Flowertown, the Arts Festival and a Growing Community

The Summerville area has seen tremendous growth in the past ten years.  It offers excellent options for the first time home buyer with a broad selection of neighborhoods.  With its historic downtown, proximity to sites like Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, and a variety of parks, waterways, biking/running trails, museums and cultural events, Summerville is a unique place where preservation of history coexists seamlessly with the growth of a modern and progressive community. Summerville is also home to the Flowertown Festival, a 3-day event held annually since 1972 to celebrate the arrival of spring. The festival is the largest in SC, featuring arts and crafts, live entertainment, and even a children’s carnival in a beautiful natural setting where azaleas and camellias are reaching full bloom. It is also conveniently scheduled the same weekend as the Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston, a world-class 10K foot race that draws more than 42,000 participants each year. Replete with beauty and historical significance, Summerville maintains a distinctive southern charm and dignity while providing abundant opportunity for families to come together to learn, grow and play.

The North Charleston, Goose Creek, and Moncks Corner areas are also seeing significant growth in their communities. This growth was spurred by the expansion of big businesses into the region such as Boeing, Volvo, and Google. In order to meet this influx of people, developers have creatively planned and built communities like Carnes Crossroads, Cane Bay Plantation and communities by Ashton Woods and Eastwood home builders. Many of these aim to combine the character of a traditional neighborhood with a diverse selection of residential real estate options. Parks, lakes, trails and greenspaces are also important features of these planned communities, along with plenty of gathering places for neighborhood and social events. This region is one of the fastest growing areas in the Lowcountry. Move here and you will likely find yourself not only charmed by a quaint sense of community but also captivated by the energy of possibility.
